Welcome to our fourth and final newsletter before you arrive at Queen Mary. This one is all about the countdown to Welcome Week what you need to prepare, and what you can expect when you get here.

Getting ready

Pre-enrolment and finances

Over the summer, you should have received an email prompting you to complete pre-enrolment. Please ensure you have completed this before you attend your enrolment slot on campus. 

It's important to organise your finances before you start your course at QMUL. Take a look at our information on planning your finances and paying your fees

Getting here

How to find us

Most activities during Welcome Week take place at our Mile End and Whitechapel campuses. Maps and directions to all our campuses can be found on my.qmul, the student website. You can also view campus maps in the QMUL app
just search for 'QMUL' in your app store. 

Travel information

My.qmul has information on a variety of travel options in London. You might want to use an app such as Google Maps or Citymapper to help navigate the city. Alternatively, you can view Transport for London (TfL) maps to work out your route. 

International arrivals

There is a free bus service for new international students arriving at Heathrow airport on Saturday 16 September or Sunday 17 September to take you to the Mile End campus. Take a look at the international arrivals video from last year for what to expect. 

Accommodation

If you're staying in QMUL accommodation, you can find everything you need to know on the Residences arrivals page. Moving In Weekend is this Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September.

Welcome Week  

Your first week (Monday 18-Friday 22 September) is an opportunity to get to know the university and find out about your programme, the Students' Union and all the support available to you.

Welcome Week events and activities
Enrolment

Enrolment takes place in the Octagon in the Queens’ Building at the Mile End campus – number 19 on the campus map.  If you selected early enrolment then you should have a slot to enrol between Friday 15 and Sunday 17 September. If not, your enrolment slot will be based on your programme of study and will take place between Monday 18 and Wednesday 20 September look up your school or institute schdeule

Programme introduction

You should have received information directly from your school or institute about induction events during Welcome Week. Induction schedules can also be found on the programme introduction page on the new students' website.

International Welcome Programme

We run a specific welcome programme for international and EU and study abroad, associate and Erasmus students, to help you find your feet, settle into your course and navigate your new environment. The sessions run on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 September. 

Welcome Fair

One of the highlights of Welcome Week is the Welcome Fair on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September. It's your chance to join societies, sports clubs, volunteering groups and student media groups, as well as to grab freebies from national companies and your Students’ Union outlets.

Dedicated postgraduate events

As a postgraduate student, you will follow a distinct programme introduction to help you get started with your studies and to find everything available to you at Queen Mary. The Students' Union is also running a special free welcome event for postgraduate and mature students on Thursday 21 September.

Staff will be on hand to help you throughout Welcome Week and beyond, and there will be a dedicated Information Point in Library Square at the Mile End campus from Friday 15 to Friday 22 September.
